Did you know UV lamps could potentially be used to treat cancer? A new treatment has been developed in order to treat hard to reach or inoperable malignant tumors using ultraviolet light. The first step is to inject a chemical compound into the tumor. Ultraviolet light is then focused on the tissue causing the cancer cells to become highly acidic and eventually die – in just 2 hours up to 95% of targeted cancer cells can be killed. Compared to chemotherapy and radiation, UV targeted cancer treatment is a non-invasive alternative allowing for a more precise application with less negative side effects.
