UV in the Lens Industry
Did you know UV lamps are used in the process of making lenses for eyeglasses, cameras, telescopes, and more? UV lamps are mainly used to cure the coatings applied to the lenses. These coatings serve several purposes including glare reduction, wear and scratch resistance, and anti-fogging. A type of coating applied to the lenses and cured with a UV lamp can also reduce or even block the amount of UV radiation that passes through the lenses.
