Did you know UV lamps are used throughout the process of manufacturing discs including bonding, printing, and coating CD’s and DVD’s? UV lamps are first used to bond the layers of the discs together. Then, if any design or label is added to the topside of the disc, UV lamps are used to cure the ink or coating. A UV coating is also added to the bottom-side of the disc to reduce abrasions and scratches. UV lamps may also be used in the production process to create the cases and packaging for discs.
